Calling all young lawyers ! Registration is now open for the first webinar in a new Masterclass series aimed at young lawyers and those who wish to hone their skills.

The Young Lawyers Commonwealth Association welcomes The Rt Hon Lord Justice McCloskey from Northern Ireland to present the first one hour Masterclass on “Advocacy – tips from the Bench”

The Rt Hon Lord Justice McCloskey 

High Court Judge in Northern Ireland from 2008.

Chairman of the Northern Ireland Law Commission 2009-2012.

Judge in Residence at Queen’s University, Belfast 2010 – 2013.

Former Deputy Chairman of the Boundary Commission of Northern Ireland.

Oct 2013 – Oct 2017, President of the UK Upper Tribunal, Immigration and Asylum Chamber.

Sept 2017 – Sept 2019 – Presiding Judge, Northern Ireland Judicial Review Court

From September 2019 – Lord Justice of Appeal, Northern Ireland and Privy Councillor

Judge of the UK Competition Appeals Tribunal

From 2021 – Judicial Studies Board (NI) Chairman

 

Chloe McMillan

Chloe has been an Attorney-at-Law for the past six years in Trinidad and Tobago. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from Middlesex University (UK) and completed the Bar Professional Training Course from the University of Law London.

She was called to the Bar of England and Wales at the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in November 2013 and was soon thereafter called to the Bar of Trinidad and Tobago in July 2014.

As an independent Attorney-at-Law, her private practice includes a range of matters including civil litigation with a keen interested in Family Law, Commercial Law and Alternative Dispute Resolutions.

Chloe is a former national swimmer for Trinidad and Tobago and enjoys classical music

Darshani Parsuramen

Darshani Parsuramen holds an LLB (Hons) from the University of Nottingham (UK) the Bar Professional Training Course from the University of Law London and an LLM in International Business Law from the Universite Paris II Pantheon ASSAS. Prior to her studies, she lived in Mauritius, the USA, France, Senegal and the UK.

She was called to the Bar of England and Wales at the Honourable Society of Middle Temple in July 2013 and was called to the Bar of Mauritius in September 2014.

She was a tenant at Sir Hamid Moollan Chambers QC for year before starting her own practice in September 2015, where her practice focused on commercial matters. She is currently the Legal and Compliance Manager for J&J Transport Africa Group of Companies since May 2017, and works and travels to the business units in Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Malawi.
